Expected Results With ACL Reconstruction

After ACL reconstruction, approximately 90 out of 100 patients who undergo appropriate rehabilitation or physical therapy return to increased levels of function and activities.
Oftentimes, full activity with minimal or no pain is achieved.

In the other 10 patients, a full return to activity may be limited by pain, swelling, the knee giving out, or a change in lifestyle that is related to age or other things.

Because individual situations can vary, you and your doctor should discuss any questions you have regarding your particular situation. It is important that your expected results with ACL reconstruction match your doctor's.
