Preparing for ACL Surgery

ACL reconstruction can be performed on an inpatient or outpatient basis.
If you are an inpatient, you will stay in the hospital overnight and usually go home the next day. Outpatients go home the day of the procedure. You will be given specific instructions as to where and when to arrive at the medical facility, how to prepare for your ACL surgery, and what to expect the day of and the days following your procedure.

You will be asked not to eat or drink anything for at least eight hours before your procedure.

Because you will not be able to drive after your ACL surgery, be sure to arrange for someone to drive you home.

(Click The Day of ACL Reconstruction for more information.)
