Closed Caption - Ankle Fracture -- Leaving the Hospital

After the procedure you will be moved to a recovery room. Here you will be monitored closely as you recover from the anesthesia. You will be kept in this area until your healthcare providers feel you are recovering well from the procedure. Then, usually in about one to two hours, you will be transported to your regular hospital room.

Following ankle surgery, it is common to feel pain in your leg. However, pain medicine can be given to help relieve this. Sometimes, during recovery, patients may also shiver or experience nausea. Both of these symptoms can be related to the anesthesia. Your healthcare providers can give you medication to help relieve this.

Remember that your healthcare providers want you to recover without any problems. So be sure to report anything that does not feel normal or "right."
