There are several ways that the doctor can treat knee problems.
Usually, your doctor will start with simpler treatments, such as:
• Rest
• Activity changes
• Steroid injections into the joint
• Medication and
• Physical therapy.
If your symptoms do not get better with these treatments, and your doctor feels that a surgery will help you, a knee arthroscopy is usually recommended. Knee arthroscopy uses a specialized camera, called an arthroscope, to look inside the knee. The camera can sometimes help fix problems inside the knee
Because a knee arthroscopy is an elective surgery, there are no serious or life-threatening consequences associated with not having it.
