Bone Health
The bones in your body are living, growing tissue composed primarily of collagen and calcium phosphate. There are two different types -- cortical and trabecular -- consisting of different structures. As we age, bones tend to break down faster than they are being replenished, so it's important to keep them healthy.
There are several factors to consider when looking to optimize bone health. These include:
- Eating a balanced diet rich in calcium and vitamin D
- Engaging in weight-bearing exercises
- Living a healthy lifestyle with no smoking or excessive alcohol intake
- Undergoing regular bone density testing and taking medication if necessary.
