Jakafi Medication Information

By preventing the formation of abnormal blood cells, JakafiTM (ruxolitinib) can help treat a rare bone marrow disease called myelofibrosis. This prescription drug is specifically designed help relieve symptoms of this disease and help reduce the size of an enlarged spleen. It is only approved for use in adults.
 
Although Jakafi may be effective for many cases of intermediate-risk and high-risk myelofibrosis, not everyone can use this medication. Information on Jakafi should be discussed with your healthcare provider before starting treatment to minimize risks and to help ensure safe treatment. For instance, people who have certain allergies or those taking certain medications may not be able to use this medicine.
 
While some people may tolerate it well, most people will experience some type of side effect with Jakafi. Some of the most common problems reported with this drug include dizziness, bruising, and headaches.
