After the procedure, you will be moved to a recovery room. In this room, you will be with other post-operative patients and healthcare providers will be available to assist you with any problems or concerns. You will be kept here until your healthcare providers feel that you are recovering well, usually this is within 1-2 hours.

You will become aware of the dressing on your foot as you wake up. The dressing will cover your foot and a special surgical shoe will be used to keep it still and protect the surgical site.

Following bunion surgery, it is common to feel some pain in your foot, however pain medication will be given to help relieve this.

Some patients also experience nausea after their procedure, which can be related to the anesthesia used. This should not last long. Remember that your healthcare providers want you to recover without any problems. So be sure to report anything that does not feel normal or "right."
