For knee problems, several alternatives exist to knee arthroscopy. Usually, your doctor will start with simpler treatment methods, such as:
• Rest
• Activity changes
• Steroid injections into the joint
• Medication and
• Physical therapy
However, if your symptoms do not improve with these and your doctor feels that a surgery will help you, a knee arthroscopy is usually recommended.
If you have questions about any of the different alternative methods for surgery, you should discuss them with your doctor and decide which one, if any, is appropriate for you.
