Skelid Drug Interactions

Calcium products, iron supplements, and magnesium products should not be taken within two hours of taking Skelid. Drug interactions may occur that could reduce the effectiveness of the medication. Food and beverages can also cause negative Skelid interactions, so avoid eating or drinking anything two hours before or after your Skelid dose.

Skelid Drug Interactions: An Overview

Skelid^® (tiludronate disodium) can potentially interact with a number of other medications. Some of the medicines that may lead to Skelid interactions include:

Aspirin
Calcium products
Indomethacin (Indocin^®, Indocin^® SR)
Iron supplements
Magnesium products
Teriparatide (Forteo™).

Food and beverages (other than water) can also interact with Skelid, preventing it from being absorbed into the body and making it less effective. Skelid should be taken with water in the morning on an empty stomach. Do not eat or drink anything (besides water) for two hours before or after taking your Skelid dosage.

Aspirin

Aspirin can decrease the absorption of Skelid into your body, making it less effective. Do not take aspirin within two hours of taking Skelid.

Calcium Products

Calcium binds to Skelid in the stomach, preventing it from being absorbed in the body and making it less effective. While it is usually important for people with osteoporosis to take calcium, it should not be taken within two hours of taking Skelid.
