Skelid (Cont.)

When and How to Take Skelid

General considerations for when and how to take Skelid include the following:

  • The medication comes in tablet form. It is taken by mouth every day for three months.
  •
  • Take Skelid on an empty stomach first thing in the morning. Do not eat for two hours before or after taking the medication. Many foods interact with Skelid, decreasing its absorption into the body (making it less effective).
  •
  • Swallow Skelid tablets whole with a full glass of plain water (not any other beverage).
  •
  • Do not take vitamins, minerals, or antacids that contain calcium, iron, magnesium, or aluminum within two hours of taking Skelid (see Skelid Drug Interactions).
  •
  • It is best to take Skelid at the same time each day to maintain an even level of the medication in your blood.
  •
  • For the medication to work properly, it must be taken as prescribed.
  •

Side Effects of Skelid

As with any medicine, side effects are possible with Skelid. However, not everyone who takes the drug will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or can easily be treated by you or your healthcare provider. Serious side effects are less common.
